Volcker will testify before Senate panel on proposal for banks

On Tuesday, the U.S. Senate banking committee will hear testimony from Paul Volcker, former chairman of the Federal Reserve and a member of President Barack Obama's economic team, regarding the White House's proposal for overhauling financial regulation. The panel will discuss a proposal to limit the size of financial institutions and to prohibit them from proprietary trading and investing in private-equity firms and hedge funds.
