Is South Africa's education system broken?

Some are calling on the government of South Africa to repair what is believed to be a broken school system that has left many without the skills they need to earn a living. Among those in the country ages 18 to 24 -- the first group of students to be educated after apartheid ended in 1994 -- nearly half are unemployed and not in school. In response, the Ministry of Education has announced plans to enrol more students in higher education and improve vocational offerings.
