IP-based voice puts pressure on wireless services

Companies as large as Facebook, Google, Apple and Skype are joining smaller counterparts in launching IP-based voice services that are going "over-the-top" -- through the Internet as well as wireless carriers' own 4G networks -- to compete with mobile operators. Consumer demand for unlimited service is among the components fueling OTT's increased popularity.
