Blended learning, hybrid innovations for the classroom

Some experts say blended learning is a hybrid innovation that is changing classroom instruction for the better. Some also point to lab-rotation models and flipped instructional practices as effective hybrid models. Educators are cautioned to consider which hybrid would work best for their students. Options include sustaining innovation, which improves the traditional model, and disruptive innovation, which has a "low impact at first, but slowly begins to change the status quo over time," said Heather Staker, senior research fellow of education at the Clayton Christensen Institute.
