EPA awards $5M grant for pilot urban watershed project in Pa.

The Environmental Protection Agency will award a $5 million grant to a pilot program in Philadelphia that will explore the use of green infrastructure to provide natural filtration of stormwater. The grant is part of a joint initiative of the city and EPA called Green City, Clean Waters, a $2 billion, 25-year project to improve the city's water quality and "provide a multitude of benefits for Philadelphians like cleaner air, revitalized green spaces and even new economic opportunity," said Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter.
