ESPN says its WatchESPN app makes pay TV better

ESPN, with its WatchESPN application, is trying to balance its interest in preparing for the video future with ensuring that it maintains its lucrative present as one of pay TV's biggest programming success stories. WatchESPN is largely seen as a value-added feature for pay-TV customers, with a broadband-only service "not close yet," according to ESPN President John Skipper. "There's no denying there's a certain element of protection and defense," he said.
