K-12 leadership experts Jill Berkowicz and Ann Myers in this blog post write about lessons that school leaders can learn from Sam Berns, who had a rare disease known as Progeria and died recently at age 17. Berns believed in four axioms for a happy life: focus on what you can do -- not what you can't, surround yourself with people you like, keep moving forward, and never miss a party. "What does this have to do with leadership? It is about perspective. How we bring ourselves to the challenges we face makes a difference in how we, and those who follow us, experience them," they write.
