Wheat genome sequencing project gets $1.4M funding boost

Bayer CropScience will provide the International Wheat Genome Sequencing Consortium with about $1.4 million over the next several months to create "complete physical maps of all 21 wheat chromosomes." this article says. The project will permit researchers to identify and study the role of wheat genes, resulting in trait information that could be used to develop new wheat varieties.
