Appeal of municipal bonds increases in tumultuous market

Investors are turning to municipal bonds for more than the tax advantages as equities markets continue to stumble. Municipal bonds are becoming cheaper to buy and offering yields that come close to matching the yields of taxable bonds. "Almost anyone in the 28 percent tax bracket or above should be considering municipal bonds, and we advise they stay with short- to intermediate-term, high-quality bonds," said Harold Evensky, a certified financial planner with Evensky & Katz.
