Food supply globalization takes toll on animal diversity

Increasing globalization of the agriculture industry has led to the world's food supply being largely dependent on a few heavily engineered breeds. Indigenous animals like East Africa's Ankole, bred over centuries for the harsh conditions of the region, have given way to the American Holstein and now face potential extinction.
