Changing trends in imaging industry affect radiologists, studies find

Studies show that hospital imaging centers' market share fell from 47% in 1996 to 41% in 2006 while imaging use in private-office settings rose by 63% over the same period. A separate report also showed that the number of unnecessary imaging services decreased when a radiology benefits-management program used evidence-based guidelines.
