Japanese CDS spreads wider than those in U.S., Europe

Until late last year, Japan's credit default swaps generally moved in parallel with U.S. and European indexes, but Japanese spreads have become wider and are likely to stay that way. Foreign investors traditionally are major players in Japan's CDS market, but many have reduced their exposure because of liquidity problems.
