High-speed rail grants to generate construction jobs

The $8 billion in federal high-speed rail grants announced this week will boost job prospects in those states that won funding, and the construction industry is expected to be a prime, but not sole, beneficiary, according to media reports. General Electric Corp. has announced it will hire workers in its rail transportation segment as it works to land contracts to build new passenger locomotives.
