Apple adds LTE to 3 small U.S. carriers in iOS update

Apple added support for Long-Term Evolution service for the iPhone 5 to three U.S. carriers this week as part of its upgrade to the iOS 6.1 operating system. Alaska Communications, Bluegrass Cellular and Pioneer Cellular joined 33 overseas carriers in gaining 4G access. In taking iOS 6.1 out of beta, Apple patched 27 security holes and added several new features, including the ability to buy movie tickets from Fandango through Siri as well as for iTunes Match users to download individual songs from iCloud.
