Calif. residents form co-ops to save on propane

Last winter, more than 200 residents of Bonny Doon, Calif., formed a propane cooperative in a bid to reduce their heating costs. Residents of the neighboring community of Boulder Creek followed suit and are creating their own co-op. "I think that many individuals feel that group buying is advantageous," said Jim Dassel, president of Dassel's Petroleum.
