Companies look to employee referrals for talent

Many large companies have ramped up their internal hiring efforts since the recession, in some cases looking to get up to half of new hires from employee referrals. Those who support the trend point out that referred employees generally perform better and stay at the company longer than do workers hired from jobs websites. "In the HR world, applicants from Monster or other job boards carry a stigma," HR consultant John Sullivan says.
