Dreamliner inquiry changes gears toward battery monitor

A monitoring system has become the focus of an investigation into the Boeing 787's battery problem. Japanese officials, who are conducting a joint investigation with the U.S., will examine Kanto Aircraft Instrument, which makes a system that monitors voltage, charging and temperature of lithium-ion batteries. Officials say the company is not under special scrutiny but is part of the overall investigation.
