Editorial: Neb. stands to benefit from Cooper plant upgrades

Proposed upgrades at the Nebraska Public Power District's Cooper nuclear plant in southeast Nebraska will benefit the region in terms of job security, clean energy generation and cost savings, according to a newspaper editorial board. NPPD's board has approved a $243 million investment in equipment and modifications to the plant, which will allow it to increase its capacity from 800 megawatts to 946 megawatts.
