Study: PET with 18F-flurpiridaz better than SPECT in CAD diagnosis

PET myocardial perfusion imaging with 18F-flurpiridaz produced better images than SPECT imaging for the diagnosis of coronary artery disease, according to a study in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. More PET images were considered excellent or good than SPECT images, and they also had higher sensitivity, the Phase II study found. "These findings suggest that this new tracer might significantly improve the assessment of patients with radionuclide MPI compared with the standard SPECT MPI methods," researchers said.
