EU ready to sign trade deal with Ukraine, Van Rompuy says

The EU is ready to go ahead with a partnership agreement with Ukraine that was rejected last year by the country's outgoing government, EU Council President Herman Van Rompuy said at a news conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin and European Commission President Jose Barroso. Van Rompuy said the trade deal, which could put Ukraine on a path to eventual EU membership, would not harm Russian interests.
