Office-building owners pursue BNY Mellon as prospective tenant

Plans by Bank of New York Mellon to sell its headquarters at 1 Wall St. and relocate in Lower Manhattan or New Jersey have touched off competition among office building developers and owners who would like to have the 229-year-old bank as a tenant. The bank is expected to move its executives to 101 Barclay St., which it already owns, leaving it shopping for 350,000 square feet in downtown New York or New Jersey.
