SEC scrutinizes due diligence on alternative investments

The Securities and Exchange Commission says in a risk alert that financial advisers need to better evaluate alternative investments, such as private equity funds, hedge funds and funds of funds. The SEC says it has found during examination that some advisory firms are providing clients misleading information about due diligence.
