Scientists step up bird flu vaccine efforts

Scientists are ramping up their efforts to develop techniques to more quickly provide sufficient quantities of vaccine in the case of an avian flu outbreak. Emerging technologies include using cells in a fermenter, which would quickly grow the viruses needed to make a vaccine, as well as using a single gene from the virus to create a vaccine.
