Many small businesses will be vulnerable if the Employee Free Choice Act passes and some will be forced to close, says Will Newton, NFIB/Texas. Newton says small-business owners have three major objections to the bill, which would make it easier for unions to organize: Workers would be subject to harassment and misinformation; organizing could happen outside the workplace without the knowledge of the business owner; and unionizing efforts would create disharmony in the familylike atmosphere of small businesses.
