Delta re-ups for federal safety program

After a two-year hiatus, Delta Air Lines says it will rejoin a federal initiative that allows pilots to self-report safety violations without fear of reprisal from their employer. Delta and other carriers had dropped out of the Aviation Safety Action Program in recent years after disputes with their unions. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood praised Delta's decision. "We hope the other carriers will follow Delta's lead and realize just how critical voluntary programs are to commercial aviation safety," he said.
