Geotextiles could help prevent landslides in Brunei by strengthening soil and reducing the chances of erosion, according to geographical management expert Gabriel Yong. Geotextiles, which are essentially permeable fabric, are less expensive and a more sustainable alternative than retention walls, Yong noted. "Landslides are more disastrous and on a large scale," he added. "However, some measures could be in place to ensure that human lives are not at risk from this natural cause."
