Retailers applaud Ottawa for trying to regulate credit cards

Canadian retailers applauded government officials for their efforts to regulate credit cards, but said the measures don't go far enough to get merchant-paid fees under control. "Canadian businesses continue to pay some of the highest merchant fees in the world, and we will continue to press for a formal review of the Canadian credit and debit card systems," said Diane Brisebois, president and CEO of the Retail Council of Canada.
