For Utah family, flying is in the blood

Years ago, when Gladys Lambert paid $5 to hitch a ride in a barnstormer, she couldn't have known she would start a flying dynasty. "Grandma was the first flying Wilkinson," says grandson Mike Wilkinson, one of five descendants with a commercial pilot's license. Don, the family patriarch, retired from Delta and built his own plane, which he still flies. Four of Don's sons caught the bug, too, with one soloing even before he finished high school. "I always wanted to be a pilot," says Paul, the eldest of the flying sons. "I remember Dad coming off a trip and smelling like an airplane. I still love that smell."
