Firms are optimistic even with tight spending

Businesses have been reluctant to invest in industrial equipment, despite an improving economy. However, companies such as Caterpillar and hydraulic-parts maker Parker Hannifin Corp. remain optimistic about a rebound in 2010 after sales lagged the previous year. But, "the signs of recovery are slow," says one CEO.
