Governor proposes new gas-drilling policies in Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell recommended new natural gas drilling rules to further protect drinking-water supplies, and he announced the hiring of 68 additional monitors. This comes after reports of contamination from the drilling method known as hydraulic fracturing. The move also is seen as showing the governor's environmental concerns while continuing to tout development of the Marcellus Shale formation.
