Quakes were deadliest natural disasters in past decade

Earthquakes killed nearly 60% of people who died as a result of natural disasters during the past decade, far outpacing the number of deaths because of storms and extreme temperatures, according to a United Nations-backed study by the Center for Research on the Epidemiology of Disasters. Millions of people in the world's largest cities are at risk from earthquakes.
