Special Olympics Colorado cancels statewide Winter Games

Colorado's Winter Games for Special Olympics athletes has been canceled this year because of budget woes. Officials with Special Olympics Colorado said reduced giving by the group's regular donors is causing the group to reserve funds for its many year-round events, instead of paying for the winter competition that costs the organization about $76,000. "We're being as conservative as possible, because the longevity and future of this organization is much more important than a single event," the group's president and CEO said.
