Survey: Most U.S. pet owners prefer dogs to cats

A poll conducted by the American Kennel Club and Cat Fanciers' Association found that 65% of the respondents prefer dogs as pets to cats, despite the fact that dog owners are outnumbered in the U.S. by cat owners by almost 13 million. Dogs' popularity numbers were highest in Detroit, Chicago and Seattle, while cats scored highest in Philadelphia, Houston and Baltimore.
