ACC welcomes Obama's manufacturing push, seeks CBI security for drillers

The American Chemistry Council lauded President Barack Obama's promise to boost the U.S. manufacturing sector but expressed concerns about plans to increase disclosure requirements for hydraulic fracturing chemicals. Shale natural gas is "a game-changer for the chemistry industry and other manufacturers, who can use more affordable and stable supplies to expand exports and create jobs," said ACC President and CEO Cal Dooley. "We agree on the need to disclose chemicals in order to give regulators the information they need, but we also need to ensure confidential business information is protected," ACC said separately.
