Calorie reduction appears key to weight loss in any diet plan

A study found no significant difference in weight and fat reduction after six months and then after two years among participants who followed one of four weight-loss diets, all of which cut about 750 calories per day. The finding, published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, suggests that simply cutting back on calories might be the key to weight loss, regardless of the diet plan used, researchers said.
