Researchers: Look beyond the short term in evaluating heart risk

Data from the Cardiovascular Lifetime Risk Pooling Project showed that adults with at least two major risk factors in middle age were at a high lifetime risk for cardiovascular death, stroke and myocardial infarction. "Most adults in the U.S considered low-risk in the short term are actually at high risk across their remaining life span," lead author Dr. Jarett Berry said. The findings appear in the New England Journal of Medicine.
