U.S. economic growth pace slower than hoped

The U.S. economy posted 2.8% growth in 2011, according to the latest figures from the Commerce Department, less than the 3% predicted by the majority of economists. U.S. consumers have continued to limit spending in response to persistent worries about the economy, leading to a slower recovery pace.
