Alternative media explore innovation, collaboration

Alternative media organizations are now examining alternative ways of making money, including offering digital marketing services, online stores and social media management, according to attendees at this year’s digital conference of the Association of Alternative Newsmedia in San Francisco. Also in evidence was increased cooperation among members, with a shared video network under way and the prospect of an industry-wide ad server. "I think the members of the organization are seeing collaboration with each other as the obvious choice to move themselves and the industry forward," said AAN Executive Director Tiffany Shackelford.
