Study looks at treatment regimen in youths with type 1 diabetes

About 51.7% of youths with type 1 diabetes transitioned to a more intensive insulin treatment in three years, while 44.7% did not change and 3.6% moved to a less intensive therapy, a study indicated. Shifting to a more intensive treatment was more likely in younger patients, non-Hispanic whites, and participants from families with private insurance and higher income and parental education levels, researchers wrote in Diabetes Care.
