Forecast: Connected TV devices will be a 2 billion-unit market in 3 years

Internet-connected devices that revolve around television viewing reached a worldwide installed base of more than 1 billion units last year, and that base is forecast to increase to more than 2 billion units by 2017, according to Futuresource Consulting. The category includes smart TVs, game consoles, Internet protocol-enabled set-top boxes, Blu-ray players and digital media adapters.
