State of the Union address includes focus on college job training

President Barack Obama in his State of the Union Address Tuesday, among other things, urged Congress to restore funding for scientific research, create more university-based "manufacturing innovation institutes" and expand job training at community colleges. He also announced that Vice President Joe Biden would be in charge of reforming job training. "That means more on-the-job training, and more apprenticeships that set a young worker on an upward trajectory for life," Obama said. "It means connecting companies to community colleges that can help design training to fill their specific needs."
