Judge blocks Berkeley sports center construction over tree protest

A judge in California has blocked construction of a $125 million sports center in Berkeley that would involve destroying an old oak grove. In addition to the protest over the proposed felling of about three dozen trees, city officials say the center would be dangerously close to the Hayward fault. The new training center and parking garage is part of a renovation plan for Memorial Stadium.
