Survey: Greeting cards, sweets still dominate V-day

The average consumer is expected to shell out $122.98 on Valentine's Day, with men spending an average of $163.37 on gifts and cards, a BIGresearch survey for a retail-industry association found. While gifts such as candy, flowers and jewelry continue to be popular, 48.2% of the respondents are planning a special Valentine's Day night out and 12.3% intend to give gift cards -- an increase from 11.3% last year.
