Mysterious sinking Missouri could cost billions

The mysterious erosion of the bed of the Missouri River threatens billions of dollars' worth of riverside properties and public infrastructure. The price tag to reverse the trend is unknown but is expected to be high. An Army Corps of Engineers' study will provide better data as an aid in heading off the threat to bridges, levees and public water supplies.
