Kansas City, Mo., nurses reduce arrival-to-triage time

Pediatric emergency department nurses at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., developed a rapid triage system that reduced arrival-to-triage times to less than 10 minutes for 88.3% of patients studied. The study, published in the Journal of Emergency Nursing, said the protocol includes the use of fast-track guidelines and the Emergency Severity Index.
