Kansas to pursue Medicaid overhaul despite concerns

Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback (R) expects to issue contracts this year to three insurance companies that will manage the state's $2.9 billion Medicaid program, despite claims from Democrats and his own party that he is moving too fast. Brownback's office said there is no reason to delay the process, but Sen. Dick Kelsey, R-Goddard, disagreed and said making such big changes within the governor's time frame would be "tremendously chaotic."
