AHIP: Extend wellness benefits to individual health plans

AHIP president and CEO Karen Ignagni told a health care briefing that reducing barriers to care that will lower costs includes having wellness incentives for people with individual health plans. A demonstration project in the individual market is planned for 10 states, but Ignagni said people need to "think more broadly about how to encourage individuals to participate in disease management and get rewarded for health risk appraisals and following the specific guidelines of their physicians.”
