Why Walgreens' GIS manager wants location data used

Walgreens' geospatial intelligence service manager Jillian Elder says she can envision a future in which GIS technology and spatial data are used across the company. Using a decentralized model will spread the use of the technology across the company without requiring every department to have a dedicated expert. "Done correctly, we hope to have a hub and spoke network across Walgreens of people using spatial analysis in different ways, but ultimately keeping the governance of a central organization to avoid redundancies or accidental silos," Elder said.
