1,800 construction jobs on the line for mixed-use project in Boston

The developer of the $500 million Fenway Center mixed-use project in Boston has requested a $7.8 million tax break from the city to help the project get started. Developer John Rosenthal's project would build 500 apartments, along with retail and office space, but construction would be costly because the complex would straddle the Massachusetts Turnpike. Boston Mayor Martin Walsh and the Boston Redevelopment Authority are still considering the request, but their decision is "do or die for 1,800 construction jobs and the 750 permanent jobs for a shovel-ready project," said Rosenthal.
