Box quietly files for IPO, will host developer event in San Francisco

Online storage service Box has quietly filed for an initial public offering, beating out competitor Dropbox, Mark DeCambre writes, citing sources. Companies that bring in less than $1 billion in annual revenue are allowed under a new law to confidentially file for an IPO. Box also announced this week that it will hold its first developer conference, titled Box Dev, on March 26 in San Francisco.
